Charles Warren was born about 1894 in Hawaii. His father was an overseer at Twelve Mile in Olaa on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Charles was a merchant marine for years before he was drafted into the U.S. Navy. He was a Fireman First Class on the USS Frederick when he died of a contusion of the chest while at sea near Balboa, Canal Zone on December 7, 1941.
The U.S. Navy shipped his remains to his family in Hilo and he was buried in the cemetery that was once a part of the Onomea Sugar Plantation. His name is listed on the plaque outside the War Memorial Natatorium for giving his life in the Great War.
