Lieutenant Colonel J. W. Jones

Lieutenant Colonel J. W. Jones oversaw one of Hawaii’s wartime officer training programs. He worked with Brigadier General Samuel Johnson and National Guard leaders to identify and mentor potential officers from within the islands’ regiments. His training camps were focused on field command, marksmanship, and troop discipline. Jones was known for emphasizing character development as well as tactical skill, helping build a competent leadership corps from Hawaii’s local recruits.
