Major Benjamin W. Snow

Major Benjamin W. Snow served as Hawaii’s chief recruitment officer for the U.S. Army. Tasked with raising enlistment numbers across the islands, he organized recruitment rallies, school visits, and multilingual outreach campaigns to attract volunteers from Hawaii’s diverse population. Snow’s work was especially important in coordinating enlistment efforts among Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese, and Hawaiian communities. He emphasized not only national loyalty but the honor of local representation on the global stage.
