Rose Davison

Rose Davison, an early champion of Hawaiian education and welfare, was active during the war in organizing school-based campaigns for war gardens and thrift stamp sales. She helped coordinate educational programming that encouraged young girls to take part in home-front service—sewing, writing letters to soldiers, and conserving food. Davison promoted a vision of citizenship rooted in both kuleana (responsibility) and education, making her a role model for wartime service grounded in Hawaiian values.
