Luella Clark

Luella Clark was among the earliest nurses from Hawaii to serve overseas during World War I. She left in 1914 with a unit from a Buffalo hospital and was assigned to Base Hospital No. 23 in France. Her early deployment reflects the prompt commitment of Hawaii’s medical professionals to aid Allied soldiers even before U.S. entry into the war
