Dr. James R. Judd, a prominent Honolulu physician, volunteered early in the war to provide medical aid in France. He and his wife sailed from Hawaii in June 1915 and worked at the American Ambulance Hospital in Neuilly, where Dr. Judd served as a staff surgeon and his wife contributed as an auxiliary nurse.
