Dr. William C. Hobdy, Director of the Territorial Board of Health, collaborated closely with Red Cross officials and the military to maintain health and sanitation standards in wartime Hawaii. He played a leading role in vaccinations, disease prevention, and inspection of troop and civilian facilities, especially as the islands’ population surged with increased military presence. Hobdy also advised on food safety and public health practices that supported the work of the Territorial Food Commission and Red Cross home nursing programs.
