Sam Kainoa
Sam Kainoa was born August 9, 1891 on Maui and worked for the City and County of Honolulu when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He died on July 14, 1918. His niece, Katherine “Kay” Napoleon later married Walter Napoleon, the last superintendent of the Waikiki War Memorial natatorium, which was built to honor Sam and the 10,000 people of Hawaii who served during the Great War.
