Anastacio Bueno

Anastacio Bueno was born on December 25, 1893, in Nabor, Philippines. He worked as a Laborer at the Hutchinson Sugar Plant on Hawaii Island when he registered for the draft on July 31, 1917, and was selected for service in October 1917.  

By March 1919, he was promoted to Corporal in Company E of the First Hawaiian Infantry. But this was to be short-lived. He died on March 26, 1919, at Schofield Barracks, Hawai‘i, leaving behind his brother Roman Bueno and family in Capiz, Philippines. His name is listed on the plaque outside the War Memorial Natatorium for giving his life in the Great War.
